Let’s Dive into These Luxurious 100 Wetroom Ideas You’ll Love!

Wetrooms are the new favorite in modern home design. They turn a simple bathroom into a stylish sanctuary. No more old showers that are cramped with curtains! With a wetroom, you get a sleek, open space. Let’s explore some fantastic wetroom ideas to help you create a beautiful and functional oasis. Weve got the guide to- Transform Your Bathroom: 100 Stunning Wetroom Ideas You’ll Love!

Open Up the Space

One of the best things about wetrooms is how they use space. Imagine walking into a modern, sleek master bedroom, and on the other side of the room- you have a couple of steps up, and into, an OPEN master bathroom!! Maybe a glass wall in between, or a slight partition, but I’m diggin’ the super open concept! It makes the room feel massive! You can achieve this look by using glass panels instead of bulky walls. This idea maximizes light and visually enlarges your space. Even small bathrooms can feel spacious with this design.

Play with Materials

When designing a wetroom, materials matter. Strong and water-resistant options like tiles, bamboo, or natural stone are great choices. You can mix textures for added interest. Consider glossy tiles for the walls paired with a matte finish on the floor. This contrast catches the eye and keeps things exciting. Want a natural feel? Wood-look tiles add warmth while still handling moisture well. For example, I was kinda’ low on budget with this last bathroom remodel and decided on tin for the bathroom wall. Yes, tin. It gave the modern look a rustic feel, and disrupted the continuous textures, in an amazing way. Modern, rustic chic? I think “YES.”

Stylish Drainage Solutions

No one wants a puddle on the bathroom floor. PERIOD. Stylish drainage solutions are essential for creating a sleek and functional wetroom. Modern options include linear drains, which I’ve been seeing so much of lately. Linear drains offer a minimalist look and can be seamlessly integrated into the floor design, often with tile inserts that make them almost invisible. Another popular choice is the discreet shower drain, which uses a slight incline to direct water towards a hidden drain, maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance. The square, hidden drains are another sleek, modern, popular choice that can barely be seen! These solutions not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your bathroom but also ensure efficient water management, preventing potential water damage. I did just a little bit of research on this and I have one BIG tip for anyone looking to remodel their bathroom into a beautiful wetroom.

TIP:It’s important to make sure the flow rate of the drain matches the flow rate of the shower. Mismatched flow rates can lead to flooding or standing water. For example, linear drains are especially good for large volumes of water. And lastly, I just recently found a new favorite stylish drainage solution! It’s a linear drain, but it goes in the wall!! Crazy, right? I absolutely LOVE this discreet, modern drain! Here’s a picture of one, and if you want the look, click here!

Add Natural Light

Natural light can make a space feel alive. If you can, add a large, high window to your wetroom. It’ll brighten the room and improve ventilation. If windows aren’t an option, consider installing a skylight. This opens up the ceiling and invites the sun in. Lately, I’ve been a huge fan of these floor-to-ceiling, sliding, glass panels! It’s like a long glass wall that you can see through, usually to a beautiful outdoor oasis or pool or something “fancy-shmancy,” but I am absolutely LOVING them. One day, when I’m super rich (yup I’m going there), I’ll have one whole wetroom wall lined with the sliding glass panels. And all of my readers are invited! Slumber party, anyone? We can all take turns in the bathtub! Or if you’re slightly anti-social, you can come take a bath there- once I turn the house into an AIRBNB! Hahaaa, it’s healthy to dream guys, damn! A light-filled wetroom feels fresh and energizing. Oh! And the natural sunlight can enhance your color choices too!

Note: So, I looked it up (which I should have done initially) and found out the floor-to-ceiling windows that can slide open to create a seamless indoor-outdoor experience are often referred to as “sliding glass walls.” Sometimes they can be called “operable glass walls.”

Smart Storage Solutions

Keeping a wetroom tidy is crucial. When everything has a place, the space feels more open. Built-in shelves are an excellent idea for storing toiletries and towels. You can even create a stylish nook for your essentials. Use baskets or decorative boxes to keep it chic yet functional. Imagine walking into a space that’s not only stylish but organized! Also, make sure you think of your storage spaces ahead of time, like when you’re designing the whole thing. An example of planned-ahead storage for your wetroom could be extra storage in the platform underneath the sunken bath or recessed shelves built into the walls for a seamless look. I’ve also seen a lot of floating shelves in wetrooms, it gives off a very minimalist, modern feel.

Closets and Stunning Wetrooms, what’s the connection?

While we’re talking about storage solutions, I thought I’d sneak in a bit about walk-in closets. You might be saying, “Well, what does that have to do with my wetroom makeover?” There could be two possible answers to this question. One answer is: Absolutely nothing. The other answer is: EVERYTHING. I have been seeing this amazing concept lately of wetroom/master closet combinations. And I am totally LOVING it! These huge, open closet concepts that seamlessly merge into the open wetroom concept, makes for a completely, luxurious look! And with that much open space, you can do sooooo much with storage, recessed shelving, open seating solutions or vanity seating. I’m gonna throw in quite a few images of this concept so you all can see what I’m talking about, and I swear- you’ll love it, too. You’ll probably want to redesign the whole blueprint you’ve made for the wetroom makeover, to be honest. Haha. Sorry, not sorry.

A Touch of Luxury & Elegance

Why not treat yourself? A touch of luxury can elevate your wetroom. Think about installing a rainfall showerhead or a deep, sunken tub. Adding a heated towel rack is another little luxury! After a long day, there’s nothing like wrapping yourself in a warm towel. If you have a bigger budget- how about underfloor heating? Heated floors provide a warm and cozy feel underfoot, eliminating the need for bulky heaters and of course, adding a luxurious feel to the space. LED lighting is another great addition, such as incorporating LED lighting strips around mirrors, under shelves, or along the floor to create a cozy ambiance.

Eco-Friendly Choices

Sustainability is more important now than ever. Consider eco-friendly fixtures and materials for your wetroom design. Low-flow faucets and showerheads can save water without sacrificing comfort. Dual-flush toilets to reduce water consumption. Eco-friendly materials like bamboo, reclaimed wood, recycled glass, and natural stone for the floors, walls, and countertops. Tiles made from recycled materials are both stylish and responsible. Opt for LED lighting, which uses less energy and has a longer lifespan than traditional bulbs. Consider installing motion sensors and dimmers to further reduce energy usage. Have you heard of heat-retentive bathtubs? Yeah, me neither. Till now. Bathtubs made from materials such as cast iron, retain heat longer, reducing the need for frequent hot water refills. By choosing green options, you can create a beautiful space that’s kind to the planet.

A few more tips for your stunning wetroom makeover..

  1. Waterproofing is key: Proper waterproofing is essential to prevent leaking, flooding, or any water damage. Use high-quality waterproof membranes and ensure all joints and corners are sealed correctly.
  2. Ventilation matters: Proper ventilation helps prevent mold and mildew. Install an efficient exhaust fan and consider adding windows or skylights for added natural ventilation. People like me, who LOVE a HOT shower, know how essential this really is! When I was 16, and moved out of my parents home for the first time, my new, shared bathroom was so small compared to my mom’s house’s bathrooms. And there was no working vent! After a few hot showers, I started noticing the ceiling was absolutely sweating and dripping! I was like, “Oh! This is what my mom meant all those years!” Next thing you know, little mold spots started appearing on the ceiling and upper walls of the bathroom and I absolutely freaked out! I spent like $75 in bathroom cleaners, mold removers, and preventions hoping to fix it before anyone else noticed! Haha. Lesson immediately learned!
  3. Use large-format tiles: If you have a smaller space and want to make it appear a bit larger, a good trick is to use large-format tiles. It also reduces the number of grout lines, which makes cleaning easier! Opt for slip-resistant tiles to ensure safety!
  4. Install a handheld showerhead: If you have pets, children, or short people (like me, I would know)– this is super important in the shower! It makes bathing so much more convenient when your short, bathing a pet, or child, or also cleaning the wetroom! Yes, I do mean scrub the walls and spray them with the shower house!
  5. Think of accessibility: Do you have elderly people in the home? Or that visit regularly? Perhaps install a handrail in the bath and the shower, for safety and convenience. Kids in the home? Make sure there is plenty of storage that is low enough for them to reach things like towels, toilet paper, and other necessities, so they won’t always be screaming, “MOMMMMMM!” Down the halls, for every little thing they need and can’t get to easily.
  6. Add a bench or seating area: It’s good to incorporate this into your planning stage, so you’re not trying to squeeze one into a space that isn’t big enough later on. I take long showers (and not baths, it’s different, if you know, you know.) So, I prefer a built-in bench in the shower/wetroom, or a fold-down seat if you need a cheaper option. This adds functionality and a touch of luxury. Seating is also pretty important, wherever you happen to get ready (at least for people who take a bit of time in front of the mirror- perhaps makeup or styling your hair), for example, a nice vanity area in the wetroom. Make sure to leave enough space for a small stool or chair in front of the vanity or large, mirrored area- Trust me, your wifey will love it!

Conclusion: Your Dream Wetroom Awaits

Designing a wetroom is a chance to unleash your creativity. With the right ideas, you can transform your bathroom into a stunning space that feels like a personal retreat.
